Yuk Yip, also known as Gordon Yip, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on February 23, 2024, at the age of 87.
Born April 29, 1936 in Malaysia, Yuk migrated to the United States at the age of 38 along with his wife Sheung Mai Yip and his two sons, Paul and Greg. His first job was a waiter at Frank Fats in downtown Sacramento. After Frank Fats, he decided to own and operate a deli shop in Weinstocks at the Arden Mall and later opened the Bread Shed in Natomas. He enjoyed greeting and serving his customers with beer and delicious hot foods. In addition, he would shoot some pool with his family and friends. His favorite hobbies were fishing, gardening and spending time with his family and grandkids. His green thumb was evident in the lush and colorful garden where he grafted his own Chinese grapefruit. His joy of fishing and gardening allowed him to share and enjoy with his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Sheung and his son Greg and his wife Denise. He was also the proud grandfather of two grandchildren, Jason and Kayla. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul.
We say goodbye to a remarkable man who touched our lives with his love and kindness. We will miss his jokes and funny stories of the past. May he rest in peace.
