Yoshiko Corrine Kobata was born on March 27, 1927 to Shigejiro and Shizuyo Kobata in Sacramento, CA and passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025 in her sleep at the age of 98.
During WWII, Yoshiko was interned in Poston, AZ along with the rest of her family. She later worked as a Program Technician II for the Department of Motor Vehicles and retired after 31 years of service. Her supervisor stated that “Yo’s daily production exceeds our standard. She is well organized and produces neat and accurate work.”
Yoshiko enjoyed life, loved the numerous family parties, bowling, going to casinos, bingo, and traveling with friends and family.
Yoshiko is survived by her brother Jim (Betty) Kobata, sister Gladys (the late George) Okino, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and their families. She was preceded in death by her sisters Ruby (the late Bert) Ishikawa and Tomiko (the late Paul) Shiraishi, and her brother Ted (the late Miyo) Kobata.
The family would like to thank Harue Seki at American River Care Home and her staff for the wonderful care they have given to Yoshiko over the past 5 years.
A memorial service and burial will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the East Lawn Memorial Park Chapel.
Attire is casual.
