Windigo Mary Swift left her body early on the morning of November 7th, at the age of 52. She had struggled with Glioblastoma for 15 months, and she died at her home with family members present.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held November 25, 2025 @ 10 AM, at East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, CA.
Windigo was preceded in death by her parents Mary Lou & Robert Parker Swift, her maternal grandparents Laura & Jerry Pershing, and her paternal grandparents Polly & Chuck Swift. She is survived by her stepmom Loretta Swift, siblings Jennifer, Grayson, & Charlie Swift, her aunt Susan Swift, uncle Verne Pershing, cousin Tim Bernhardt (Suzanne), nieces Mëgan O'Neill, Whitney Wallace, Zoë Costello, extended family Alyce Swift and Lorrie Heil (Dan).
Windigo was a devoted Science teacher for many years, where she also volunteered in an academic support program designed to prepare underserved students for college and career readiness. She was an accomplished horsewoman, a foster parent for dogs, and a serious competitor in dog trials. She enjoyed wearing most anything purple, and was a devoted fan of Giants baseball. She had a quiet personality and generous heart. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
