Willie Smith was born in Allendale, South Carolina, on May 1, 1937. The son of Herbert and Neller Smith,
he was raised in Savannah, Georgia. Willie graduated from Alfred E. Beach High School. In 1955, Willie
enlisted in the United States Army. He was a Vietnam Veteran who honorably served our country for 21
years. Willie married the love of his life, Mable Murray. Their marriage lasted until his passing. From
their union, they were blessed with six children: Emmett, Darrell, Karen, Ramunda, Sonya, and Dmitri.
Willie was the love of Mable's life and he was a great father to their children. Willie provided
unwavering support to his family, leaving behind cherished memories that his children will always hold
dear and share with his grandchildren. Willie enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and
celebrating their accomplishments. Willie emphasized the importance of academics.
Willie also was a gifted artist, and his creative vision shines through his artwork.
Willie was a devout believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, and his family considers him a true blessing.
Willie is survived by his wife, Mable, and his children: Emmett (Francine), Darrell (deceased), and Dmitri
(Adriana), along with his daughters Karen, Ramunda, and Sonya (Dayn). Willie leaves behind a legacy of
grandchildren, including Aaron, Alayna (Jason), Alexander, Xavier, Spencer, Tatiana, and Langston. Willie
is also survived by his brothers and sisters:
Lillie Smith, Mary Register (Albert), Gussie Smith (Sherry), Cynthia King (Rev. Frank), Barbara Rhodes
(Rev. Todd), Jessie Parker (Stanley), and Betty Hawkins (Cortney) and a host of family and friends.
