William Joseph Dudek

September 11, 1950 — April 16, 2022

William J. Dudek was born on September 11, 1950 in Grass Valley, California and passed away on April 16, in Roseville, California the age of 71 years.

William was the second child of Joe and Elsie Dudek. He was raised in Grass Valley and attended local schools. He attended Sierra College where he met Marie  Moreirinha in 1968. He briefly attended Sacramento State College with her. He joined the National Guard and soon married Marie in 1972. He received training at Fort Dix in New Jersey and Fort Lee, In Virginia.

They lived in Auburn and Rancho Cordova before moving to Southern California in 1976, where he worked for the City of Cerritos. Upon returning to Northern California, he started working for the Placer County Parks and Grounds Department. He retired from there after 30+ years.

William had varied interests such as astronomy and science, and science fiction movies. He was a great fan of the Rolling Stones and attended many of their performances in Northern California. He was super knowledgeable of Rock and Roll songs and performers.

William was a fan of the Raiders until their move to Las Vegas. He then became a fan of the 49ers . He attended home games of both teams. He was a homebody:  watching Jeopardy on television, working in his yard, reading his stacks of science magazines, selecting movies for their Saturday movie nights, and having time with his favorite cat, Dahlia. They also attended many Broadway show performances in Sacramento and other cities. He also loved the ocean, especially trips to Bodega Bay and Monterey.

William and Marie shared 49 years of marriage and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this June.

William is preceded in death by his father Joe Dudek, mother Elsie Dudek, his sister Carolyn Dudek, brother in law Harry Ames, and mother in law Connie Moreirinha. He is survived by his loving wife Marie and his sister in law Mary Ames.

Services for William will be held at East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
