Virginia was born to Dotha Arvin-Stipe and Wallace Stipe in Spokane, Washington. Her childhood was spent in Spokane and she attended Lewis and Clark High School. Thereafter, she majored in Fashion Design and Textiles at Washington State University. Virginia met her future husband Richard (Dick) Henning while attending college and married him. They made their home in Spokane and were blessed with four children; Paula, Bruce, Joyce, and John. The family spent many happy weekends and the family cabin on Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho and at the bakery in Palouse in Tekoa, Washington.
The family moved to Sacramento in 1967 and spent their remaining years enjoying many major life milestones together. Virginia worked for the California State Department of Social Services Office of Legal Affairs until her retirement. Virginia and Dick had three grandchildren; Janae, Sam, and Joel who were their pride and joy. Their grandchildren in turn graced them with nine great-grandchildren as follows; Janae and Alberto had Ozakio, Santos, and Selma. Sam and Mikala had Reya, Owen, Sanae, and Moses. Joel and Karmen had Oliver and Jacob.
Virginia was also involved with the local chapter of her sorority Delta Zeta, attending luncheons and movie dates with her fellow sisters. Her later years were happy and actively involved in special family events.
Virginiaâs family will be holding a celebration of life service at East Lawn Memorial Park Chapel at 4300 Folsom Blvd on July 16th at 10am. Any remembrances on her behalf may be made to the Sacramento SPCA or the charity of their choice. The family invites any interested parties to share this service and celebration of her lifeâs journey. Those who attend are also invited to join them for food and refreshments in further remembrance of Virginia's life at Virginia's home immediately following the service.
