Sacramento, California - Virginia (Cole, Costenson) Hess born in Marysville, Utah November 18, 1925 passed away peacefully in Sacramento September 23, 2022.
Virginia moved to Sacramento after college to pursue her career in social work and education. She retired after 34 years as a 1st grade teacher and reading specialist.
Virginia loved people and made friends wherever she went. Her love of learning led her to the Renaissance Program at Sacramento State. She loved tennis and more importantly, bridge. She was an AVID 49er and Kings fan!
Virginia was predeceased by the love of her life and husband Tom Hess and her daughter Nancy. She is survived by her children Carol and Greg, her brother Don, his wife Verna, niece Sheryl, stepchildren, Tom Jr., and Sydney and their families.
Virginia will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, teacher, and friend.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
