Vincent ‘Vinny’ Recce

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Vincent E. Recce Jr. on April 12, 2026 after a two-year courageous battle with neck cancer. Vinny was born December 22, 1962 in Evreux, France and moved permanently to the US in 1973. He spent 30 years in law enforcement, including over 25 years with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, before retiring in 2012. 

Gregarious by nature, Vinny was known for being a friend to everyone. He loved nothing more than a gathering with friends and family. He was a master slayer of the BBQ ….there was always an open door at his house and an extra spot at his table. He loved fearlessly, was loyal, devoted, and was willing to do anything for those that he loved the most. 

Vinny leaves behind Sarah, his loving wife of 39 years. He is also survived by his siblings Mike (Hui) Recce, Dave Recce, Nicki (Ken) White, Tony Recce, and Danny (Kathy) Recce. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Jeannie Oakes and brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Sonya Aflleje.

 We will always remember his kindness, humanity, and sense of humor. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
