It is with heavy heart we announce the passing of our father and grandfather, Vien Hua, on Friday, March 13, 2026. He was 89. Vien was born in China and moved to Vietnam at the age of 11. After the communist takeover, he immigrated to the United States in 1979, searching for a better life for his family. He was an easygoing, gentle, kind, and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He spent countless hours with us—his children and grandchildren—taking us to the movies, out for ice cream, and for burgers or noodles. He never said no when any of us needed a ride—simple acts that became cherished memories. He dropped off and picked up his grandchildren to and from school daily from elementary school through high school. He was incredibly dependable—he would always arrive at least 30 minutes early to ensure he could park close to the front of the school. He carried a quiet wisdom and found joy in simple things, like reading the newspaper or watching Chinese operas or movies, even during his final days.
Our dad didn’t speak often, but when he did, he had a wonderful sense of humor. We will deeply miss his strong voice, his stories, and his jokes. He remained at peace, even when he knew the end was near. He told us not to be sad, that living to nearly 90 years old was enough. That was who he was—accepting, thoughtful, and wise. He is survived by his son, his three daughters, and his five beloved grandchildren.
