TOM MOTTER
Thomas W. Motter of Rancho Cordova, CA passed away Friday, December 8, 2023. He was born in Oakland, CA on October 26, 1938 to parents Robert W. Motter and Ruby Mae Motter.
Tom grew up in Oakland and graduated from Oakland Technical High School. He was also educated at Armstrong Business College. He married Mary Jane Gannon in 1959 and started a family in Oakland. In 1963 they moved to Rancho Cordova where he lived the rest of his life.
He had many jobs during his career in sales, retired early and became an author. He had many different hobbies over the years but always focused on midget car racing. Tom was an enthusiastic fan and serious historian of midget car racing especially in the bay area and belonged to Bay Cities Racing Association. He was a published author and wrote five books about midget racing including “BCRA The First 50 Years”.
Tom was a member and Deacon of Fremont Presbyterian Church. He participated in and was very fond of the Monday Morning Bible Study. He cherished the friendships he made there.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by children Deborah Motter Dolce and Robert W. Motter; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sister Rosalyn Cannelora, sister-in-law Sally Cain and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on January 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Fremont Presbyterian Church, 5770 Carlson Drive, Sacramento, CA
