Theodore Arthur Pantages passed away in Sacramento, California on November 27th 2024 at the age of 101 years young. He was born in San Francisco, California to Christina and Arthur Pantages on June 21st 1923. Ted grew up on 10th and D Streets with his older brother John and younger brother Peter. The three brothers sold newspapers to supplement the family income during the Great Depression. Of course the fearsome threesome managed to get into a little mischief with their buddies Charlie Thomas, Al Balshor, Mel Adams and countless others as they roamed the streets of downtown Sacramento. During WW11 Ted and Peter served in The United States Navy and their older brother John, The United States Army. They were all members of The Annunciation Greek Church where they learned to take pride in their heritage. Ted held a variety of jobs including The City of Sacramento, Daisy Bread Company, Yellow Taxi then as a Pari- Mutual Clerk. Theodore, his brothers and a host of friends would find enjoyment chasing the treasures sometimes afforded them by playing the horses or as they saw it “The Sport of Kings”. Also, rumor has it Ted played a hand or two of cards from time to time. It was at these gaming establishments he would cultivate a number of friendships that would cut across all social, political, economic and generational lines. Theodore was preceded in death by his beloved wife of forty-five years, Carol; and his brothers John and Peter. He is survived by his sons, Phil ( Maryangela), Gregory ( Janell ), Charles( Despina ), and daughter Karen ( David ) Miller. Theodore was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. His friends and family will miss him dearly. A viewing will be held at East Lawn Chapel December 12th at 10:00 A.M. until noon. A private interment will be held afterwards.
