ThanhTri Thi Nguyen

Thanh Tri Nguyen passed away on January 29, 2023, in Sacramento, California at the age of 84, while surrounded by family who loved her dearly. She lived a wonderful life, personally impacting everyone around her - family, friends, and students.  She was so generous, and her heart was always so full of love for others. 
ThanhTri was born in 1939 in Hue, Vietnam. She graduated from Hue College of Fine Arts as the first female valedictorian in 1961 and later the pedagogical College of Fine Arts Saigon in 1962.  She taught Art for 24 years in NhaTrang and Saigon, where she made so many friends. In 1987, she and her family immigrated to the United States. Always so passionate and curious about painting since her youth, she later pursued an Associates degree in Design Drafting from River College, Sacramento in 1993. 
ThanhTri married Huyen Doan and had 3 sons, 1 daughter, and 6 grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her beloved family. She was an admired and cherished teacher to her students. Her many paintings are a testament to her great talent and passion. She participated in over 45 exhibitions and received several awards. ThanhTri inspired everyone around her - living a life of service, tenderness, and compassion for others. 
ThanhTri is survived by Huyen Doan, Hung Doan, Quyen Diep, William To, MinhTam Doan, Hau Doan, ThuyNhu Trinh, Harvey Doan, Tiffany Pham, Sylvie Doan, Sophie To, Celine Doan, Lillian Doan, Katie Doan, and Brandon Doan.
