Sydney Waileia Harper, 21 years, left this world on August 22, 2025 in Elk Grove, California. Sydney is the cherished, beloved, and deeply missed daughter of Stephen and Sandra Harper and the adored big sister to Sienna Harper.
Sydney graduated from Franklin High School in Elk Grove, California followed by earning her Associate of Arts Degree in Applied Apparel Studies from Sacramento City College. After graduation, Sydney worked at Nutec Rehab where she was an integral part in manufacturing specialized seating and positioning products for disabled members of her local community. She also had the opportunity to intern with local designer Samuel Rose at b:SR brand.
As an eco-conscious consumer, Sydney was able to turn her thrift store hauls into her own works of wearable art for women by using her own creativity and sense of fashion. Thus her brand PIN SCARLET was born. She was able to focus on her interests in pattern design and create sustainable and eco-friendly consumer goods.
Sydney’s eye for creativity and passion for working with her hands was not just limited to her clothing projects. She was mechanically inclined as well, and loved tinkering and modifying her beloved Honda Rebel. She possessed a keen eye for photography and with her sister Sienna, loved using that to show off that Honda Rebel.
Sydney was a bright light in the communities of Elk Grove and Sacramento. Whether you knew her from Girl Scouts, her time as a soccer player with the local recreational and club teams, her work in the fashion world, the patients whose lives she touched while at Nutec Rehab, various motorcycle clubs, or just her goofy, fun loving personality, you know that she has left an indelible mark on countless lives just by being herself. She will be greatly missed by all, and we are heartbroken at her absence.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers or cards, we request you find a charity that serves the communities around Sydney's passions. Whether it’s animals, soccer, fashion, entrepreneurship, motorcycle riding or any other way Syd touched you. A memorial scholarship for fashion students is also in the works.
If you are able, please leave a happy memory you shared with Syd.
