Suey Yee Fong

Suey Yee Fong, 97, was born in Taishan, Guangdong, China, to Wong Tai Ho and  Ngar Oy Lee.  She passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024 in Sacramento, CA.   

Suey immigrated in 1949 and settled in Sacramento with her husband.  She worked in the cannery industry and later joined her husband in their restaurant business.  She was devoted to babysitting her grandchildren and when she had time, enjoyed gardening and traveling.  She also kept busy in her Alumni Club from her school in China and with the Wong Family Association of Sacramento.

Suey was preceded in death by her husband, Bew Lun Fong and Sister Rui Hua Huang. 

She is survived by son, Roland (Carol); daughter, Janice (John, deceased) Steenhoek; and son Thomas (Lisa).  4 grandchildren, Kendra (Steve) Penner, Chandra Steenhoek, Ryan (Leanna) and Rachelle (Daniel).  2 step grandchildren, Cindy (Scott) Halverstadt and Stephen Gong.  4 great grandchildren, Jax and Zoe Penner, Justin Steenhoek, and Maverick Fong.  2 step great grandchildren, Chelsey and Blake Halverstadt. Sisters, Rui Wen Huang (Qi Chang) and  Suey Zee Won (Fon Wing) and many nieces and  nephews.
