Sue Fay Lim

Sue Fay Lim, lovingly known as Fay to her family and friends, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at the age of 93. She is now reunited with the love of her life, Gene Lim, her beloved husband of 56 years and her beloved daughter Helen.

Fay was born on March 28, 1933, in Ock Hing Village, Kwantung, China, and later came to California when she was a youth. She graduated from Sacramento High School and Sacramento Junior College (now known as Sacramento City College). On January 21, 1957, she married Gene Lim, beginning a loving partnership that would span 56 years.

Fay and Gene first lived in Napa, CA as newlyweds and operated a small market for several years. They then moved to Sacramento where they ran a Chinese restaurant for over ten years. Later, Gene became a self-employed HVAC Tech and Fay became a worker at several local canneries. She thoroughly enjoyed her jobs. She took great pride in caring for those around her through her cooking, generosity, and tireless work ethic. She also loved helping care for each of her grandchildren when they were little.

Fay loved hosting family gatherings for birthdays and holidays, where everyone looked forward to her delicious cooking and warm hospitality. She treasured photographs of her family and enjoyed sharing stories from her life. Fay had an incredible memory and loved reminiscing about special moments and family history with those she loved most. In her free time, Fay enjoyed gardening, cooking, watching Sacramento Kings games and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her strength, dedication, kindness, and the deep love she had for her family.

Fay was preceded in death by her husband Gene, her daughter Helen, her father John, her mother Suey, and her sister Sue Jean. She is survived by her loving children, Betty (Dave) Silvernail, Norman (Lou Ann) Lim; cherished grandchildren Michael (Helen), Julia (Erik), Erica, Kimi, and Jeffrey; great-granddaughter, Leila; siblings Sue, Raymond (Marilyn), Armand (Jolene), and Simon (Karen); and many nieces and nephews.
