Stanley Sunao Yumen

March 30, 1933 — July 10, 2022

Stanley Sunao Yumen, age 89, of Orangevale, CA, passed away on July 10, 2022 from “oral” cancer.  He was born on March 30, 1933 in Waiakoa, Kula, Maui.  He is predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Ethel Natsue Shimote Yumen, who died on March 3, 2001.  Stanley served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He retired as a mechanical engineer from IBM.  He is survived by his daughters Kim (Geroge) Carnero, Joy (Paul) Barney, Pam (Robert) McGill, granddaughters Jera Barney, Courtney McGill, Amanda McGill, and Paige McGill, sister Stella Yamada and brother Alvin Yumen. Internment was at East Lawn Mortuary in Sacramento, CA.  His final resting place will be at the Makawao Veterans’ Cemetery on Maui, Hawaii.

Stanley will be remembered as a dedicated husband and father.  He cherished his family and close friends. He was always generous with his children and grandchildren and made sure his daughters had a better life than he did growing up.  Stan loved old westerns, and cheering on the SF 49ers and the SF Giants.  He loved to travel and to go camping in his younger years and was an active gardener.  He loved a good meal and lots of laughter.  One of his greatest accomplishments was “helping to plant” the Almaden Valley United Church of Christ in San Jose.

Stanley waited 21 years to join his beloved wife, Ethel, and on July 10, 2022, passed away peacefully with his daughters, Kim, Joy, Pam, and son-in-law, Paul, at his bedside.
