Sheung Mai Yip, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully on July 3, 2024, at the age of 85.
Born September 15, 1938 in China, Sheung migrated to the United States with her husband Yuk Yip of 65 years along with her two sons, Paul and Greg. She and her husband owned and operated a deli shop in Weinstocks at the Arden Mall, and later opened the Bread Shed in Natomas. She enjoyed gatherings with her family and friends to play mahjong. She was most famous for making potstickers unlike anyone else – loaded to the brim and full of flavor. Her recipes will continue to bring her family joy as they attempt to replicate the recipes and the amount of love and passion she put into her cooking. She also loved gardening, fishing and spending time with her family and grandkids. Together, she and her husband grew the most beautiful garden full of fruits, vegetables and flowers. She is survived by her son Greg and his wife Denise, her grandson Jason and granddaughter Kayla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Yuk and her son, Paul.
We say goodbye to a remarkable woman who touched our lives with her love and kindness. We will miss her cooking and her caring demeanor that will brighten anyone’s day. May she be united with her husband and her son. Rest in peace.
