Ruby Louise (Harris) Stoecker age 97 (& a ½) of Carmichael/Sacramento, CA; comfortably passed away (with family present) on Monday evening - November 13th 2023 in Carmichael, CA.
She was born on Wednesday - March 10th 1926 in Newtonia, Missouri & was raised in Montezuma (Western) Kansas. She (was) an extremely strong, loyal, big hearted & feisty individual that left an impression on everyone she encountered.
Ruby attended Wichita Business & Hayes Colleges; worked for Pacific Bell & North American Aviation - putting spark plugs in B25’s.
On August 27th 1944, Ruby was married to Floyd 'Jack' Stoecker in Castle Rock, CO - they celebrated 68 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 2013. They lived together in 10 different Cities prior to moving to Sacramento/Carmichael, CA in 1967.
She volunteered with the Girl Scouts, was a Docent at the Crocker Art Museum for 20 years & a part of the Camellia Symphony Guild for 9 years; President for 1 year (1978).
She enjoyed family, volunteering, art, gardening, managing her home affairs, shopping (for herself & others – especially at Christmas) and at the end of her husband’s life - she cared for him.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter Shannon (Stoecker) Cary, her son in-law Steve Cary; along with many nieces and nephews.
Ruby was the last of her & her husband’s original families, preceded in death by her parents Ora Arthur and Mary Leva (Luney) Harris; her 5 sisters: Irene Lohmeyer, Nadine Gray, Noriene Merrell, Georgia Robinson & Ann (or Anna May) Hinton & their husbands; 1 brother: Clifford Luney.
There will be a 10:00am Celebration of Life for family & friends on Friday, March 8th 2024 at East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Ln, Sacramento, CA 95841.
