Rosemarie Omega Torres, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away on January 2nd, 2024 at the age of 79. She was born in Leyte, Philippines on December 25, 1944 and grew up in Iloilo. Rose is survived by her husband Marty, son Zen "Romar", grandsons Zenon Joshua and Zenson Jordan and daughter-in-law, Marivic. She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Zenon "Ramir", brothers Cesar Chaves, Sonny Omega, sisters Ester Bandong, Alpha Cabangal, and parents Hermenegildo and Concepcion (Villaranda) Omega.
Rose graduated from the University of the East in Manila, Philippines with a bachelor's degree in Physics. She taught as a college physics instructor at the same university and there met her future husband Marty. They were married on July 4th, 1968 and had 2 sons. After immigrating to the US in 1972, she and her family spent some time in Daly City and Alameda before settling down in Salinas and then retiring in the Sacramento area. She served as a teacher's aid for a number of years, before becoming a planning engineer with Pacific Bell and retired after 25 years of service.
Rose enjoyed traveling, going to concerts, and shopping. She will be remembered for her keen intellect, generosity, and caring nature. She will be deeply missed by her immediate and extended family, and friends.
