Rosa Mercedes Salazar
February 3, 1939 - November 23, 2022
Rosa Mercedes Salazar of Elk Grove, California, went home to be
with the Lord Jesus Christ on November 23, 2022. Rosa is preceded in
death by her parents, Carlos I. Salazar and Sophia Chocas-Salazar of Peru
and her four siblings, Zelmira, Alberto, Aurelio and Julio also of Peru. Rosa
is survived by her niece, Zenia San-Miguel Munoz of New York, and her
nephews, Alexis Aurelio San-Miguel Cadenas of Nevada and Alberto
Bueno Cuadra of Peru.
After growing up in Peru and coming to the United States, Rosa was
proud to become an American citizen on November 15, 1995. She received
a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology in 2006 from California State University,
Sacramento. As an employee of the State of California serving in
the departments of Transportation, Information Technology, and Corrections,
Rosa progressed to become the bilingual secretary to the Division
Chief of Technology before retiring in 2013.
As a Christ follower and a child of God, Rosa was a member of
Creekside Christian Church of Elk Grove where she enjoyed learning about
Jesus through participation in Sunday School, the Senior & Women’s Bible
Studies and the Women Together Ministry. She loved singing in the church
choir, singing at retirement homes, walking her dogs in the park, sewing,
cooking, gardening, attending musicals and watching fireworks displays at
the Elk Grove Park. Rosa loved animals! She took care of needy animals
locally, and gave generously to various animal charities across the globe.
She will be missed by her friends, family and precious cat, Weedy.
A memorial service for Rosa Salazar will be conducted at 11:00 a.m.
Friday, December 16, 2022 in the Atrium of Creekside Christian Church of
Elk Grove located at 8939 East Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA.
