Ronald Earl Holden

Ronald Earl Holden, age 77, of Sacramento, California, peacefully returned to the arms of The Lord on June 26, 2023. Ron passed away peacefully in his sleep in his home in Holland, Texas.

Born in San Diego, CA to Earl and Enid Holden, Ron spent much of his childhood enjoying dance and music. He would go on to spend his early years as a dance instructor. His later passion for computers and other electronics would lead to him acquiring a ham radio license and then to membership of the River City Amateur Radio Communication Society. Later, he would apply his electronics experience to his faith, donating time to his church as a volunteer audio and video technician. A jack of all trades, Ron was most at home when working on a project. He could fix anything, large or small, from boats to computers to RC planes. He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, target shooting, and time outdoors.

Ron experimented with several professions throughout his life, but eventually settled in at Sacramento State University, where he worked as an Electronics Technician until his retirement. Later in life, Ron reconnected with the love of his life and most admired dance partner, Kathryn “Kitty” Lund. Ron and Kitty were married on August 9, 2008 in Reno, Nevada. Together, they owned and operated a successful real estate agency, Landmark Pacific Realty, until Kitty’s passing and Ron’s subsequent retirement in 2013.

Late in his life, Ron enjoyed walking his family’s property in Holland, Texas, working with the plants in their garden, watching Texas thunderstorms and beautiful sunsets, and visiting over ice cream with his youngest grandchild, Brynn. He was a man who had more tools throughout his lifetime than most people would in five, a man who knew something about everything, and a man who, in the end, was loved.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Enid Holden, his wife Kitty Lund Holden, and his brother Craig Holden. He is survived by his sons Martin Holden and Eric Cox, daughter Julie Wagner and son-in-law Aaron Wagner, daughter Lori Bencivengo and son-in-law Michael Bencivengo, and his grandchildren Aubrey Castner, Jacob Holden, Zoë Wagner, Mia Wagner, Hannah Castner, Brooklyn Wagner, Taylor Castner, and Brynn Bencivengo.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 12, 2023, at 2:00pm at the East Lawn Mortuary Chapel at 5757 Greenback Ln. Sacramento, California, with Pastor Sonny Hagan officiating. Committal to follow at East Lawn Sierra Hills Memorial Park Garden, Terrace II, row 17, grave 132.
