Ronald Stephen Hickman

October 30, 1945 — September 18, 2024

Ronald Stephen Hickman, fondly known as “Steve” was born on October 30th,1945 and was called home to be with the Lord on, September 18, 2024.

Steve was born in Elkhart, Kansas. He was a native of Sacramento since late 1945. Steve is survived by his children from a previous marriage; Blair Hickman (Mariah), Buffy O’Neal (James), his wife Patricia Hickman, his stepdaughters; Debbie Nichols and Carrie Green (George), his grandchildren, Ryan Foley, Beau Hickman, Audra Geigle (Jack), Shane Nichols (Missy), Ricky Green (Liz) and Tiffanie Green (Keith) and great-grandchildren: Kaitlin, Michael & Alanna and his nephew Brian Hickman (Susanne) and niece Jennifer Hickman-Bell. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Pricer, and brother Mark Hickman.

Steve graduated from Sac High and went to college for two years, then was drafted by the Army from 1966 to 1968 and served in the Vietnam war. After returning home from service, he became an accomplished auto painter and was exceptional at his craft.

In 2013 Steve set out to find his church home and landed at what once was First Baptist church and now is Creekside Christian Church of Elk Grove, Ca. In 2017, Steve had the opportunity to travel to the holy land of Israel. This was somewhere he always wanted to go and experience after attending church and reading the bible. It was on that trip he was baptized in the Jordan River. An experience that changed his life forever.

He will fondly be remembered for being an outdoorsman and someone who loved adventure. If he wasn’t fishing or hunting, he would be camping, barefoot water skiing, riding his quad around the sand dunes in Florence Oregon or he was going around the United States in his RV. He loved cruises because he got to see so many places in the world. The Baltic Sea cruise was by far his favorite one of them all.

Services for Steve will be held:

October 1st, 2024, at 11am

Creekside Christian Church.

Don’t Grieve for Me

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free;

I took His hand when I heard him call;

I turned my back and left it all.

If my parting has left a void;

Then fill it with remembered joy.

My life’s been full, I savored much;

Good friends, good times,

a loved one’s touch.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a trip;

Ah yes, these things, I too, will miss.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief;

Don’t lengthen is now with undue grief.

Lift up your hearts and share with me;

God wanted me now,

He set me free.
