It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Romeo (Bobby) Torres Ching on January 22, 2025, at the age of 67. Romeo was born on August 14th, 1957 in Pasay City, Philippines, to Potenciana Torres Ching and Ching Kiat Bak.
At a young age, Romeo met the love of his life, his wife Regina Veridiano, and they were married for 42 years at the time of his passing. Together, they had three children: Ruby, Alyssa, and Robby. Romeo was an incredible father - always there to celebrate accomplishments, perform an oil change, and try new restaurants with his family.
Romeo was known for his kindness, his gentle demeanor, and his jokes. The uncomplicated nature in which he lived his life inspires us not to take life too seriously, and that there is wisdom in simplicity. He reminds us that there are treasures to be captured in life’s ordinary moments, and that laughter is life’s best medicine.
Romeo sang for the St. Charles Borromeo Church Choir, was a member of Bayanihan Sacramento, and was an avid basketball fan. To his family, he was their very own Sacramento King, and they will think of him every time the infamous purple beam lights up the city sky. A lifelong dog lover, he raised a few furry family members that considered him their best friend.
Romeo worked for PG&E, California’s energy company, where he remained for 22 years.
Viewing will be held at East Lawn Memorial Park in Elk Grove, California, on Thursday, February 6th, 2025 from 5-8 PM. Mass service will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Sacramento, CA, on Friday, February 7th, 2025 at 10 AM.
