Roland "Rollie" James Swingle

Roland “Rollie” James Swingle was born on July 28, 1943 in Hartford, Wisconsin. He attended Carroll College and transferred to the University of Wisconsin at Platteville where he met his future wife, Barbara Bussan. The two married on June 18, 1966. On December 12, 1967, Barbara gave birth to Bradley James Swingle, their one and only child. They moved to California in 1985 and settled in Tracy. They moved to Elk Grove in 2002.

Rollie was an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Elk Grove and a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, as well as a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan. In 2004, he was diagnosed with cancer and spent a good portion of the next two decades mentoring other men who received similar diagnoses. He spent the majority of his working career in meat sales. 

Rollie leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Barbara Swingle, and a son, Bradley Swingle (Heather). He is survived by his siblings, Anita Rappe, Denny Swingle, and Lanny Swingle. 

A funeral service is scheduled for December 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Elk Grove.
