Roger Kenneth Plummer

August 13, 1944 — May 18, 2025

Sacramento

Roger passed peacefully in his home on the afternoon of May 18, 2025, after spending his final days surrounded by family, beloved friends, and neighbors. Roger was a native Sacramentan, born on August 13, 1944, at Sutter Maternity Hospital to Lucile F. Plummer and K. Warren Plummer. After graduating from Sacramento High School, Roger enlisted in the Army where he served for three years in the US Army Signal Corps in a non-com- bat position as part of a radio installation team stationed in central Germany. After being discharged from the Army, Roger returned to Sacramento where he worked briefly for PG&E before being hired by the City of Sacramento Department of Utilities Wastewater and Sewer Division. Roger rose through the ranks during his 30+ years of employment with the City and achieved the position of supervisor by the time he retired in 2004. Roger was an active retiree: for many years he worked out several times a week with his trainer and did Pilates. He hosted a weekly coffee get-together in his Arden Park home. Roger’s favorite pastimes included volunteering for the annual classic car show, Hot August Nights, travelling throughout California with his buddies to attend welding, logging and heavy equipment trade shows, riding his quad at his beloved Pismo Beach dunes, and watching Deadliest Catch. Roger was committed to heating his home with wood and spent many hours with his son cutting, splitting and stacking wood for fires in the winter. Roger will be remembered for his dependability, sense of humor, willingness to help family and friends, always having the right tool for any job, his love of Dodge trucks, and his love of burgers. Roger is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Linda, his two children Karolyn (John) and Ryan, his two grandchildren, Archer and Charlotte, his younger brother, Robert, and many friends. Donations may be made in Roger’s memory supporting OHV use at Pismo Beach to the Friends of Oceano Dunes, friends@oceanodunes.org or PO Box 398, Oceano, CA 93475. Roger’s family plans a private celebration of life for later this summer to coincide with his birthday.
