Robert “Bob” Hamilton

February 1, 1946 – June 2, 2025

With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Hamilton—devoted husband, proud father, loving grandfather, caring uncle, treasured friend, and lifelong public servant. Bob passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, at the age of 79, surrounded by the love of family.

Born on February 1, 1946, Bob lived a life guided by integrity, courage, and compassion. He proudly served with the San Rafael Fire Department for 21 years, a career he cherished deeply. For over two decades, Bob protected others with unwavering bravery and commitment—responding to every call with heart, humility, and a steady hand. His service left a lasting impact on countless lives, and he carried that same sense of duty into every other role he held in life.

Beyond his firefighting career, Bob was a dedicated volunteer who believed in giving back. He especially enjoyed his time with the local puppy group, helping raise and train future service dogs. He also spent special time at the library with his own beloved dog, Dovelyn, where children would read aloud to her as part of a literacy outreach program. The connections he made with both people and dogs brought Bob immeasurable joy.

Bob was the kind of man who brought people together. A gifted storyteller with a booming laugh, he had a knack for turning everyday moments into cherished memories. Whether swapping stories at the firehouse, spinning tales at family barbecues, or simply making someone smile on a hard day, Bob’s presence was unforgettable.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures: time spent with his family, morning walks, lake days, wine tasting trips with friends, and cheering on his grandkids from the sidelines and stands. His greatest pride was his family. Bob was a loving and devoted husband to Peggy, his partner in love and life for 44 wonderful years. As a father and grandfather, he offered quiet wisdom, unconditional support, and fierce love. As an uncle and friend, he was always ready with a helping hand, a hearty laugh, or a listening ear.

Bob is survived by his wife Peggy, his children, Beth Hornsby (John), Craig Hamilton (Jennifer) and Michael LaBlue (Maigan), grandchildren Tessa, Carson, Ethan, Hannah, and Evan, many treasured nieces and nephews, and countless friends who were blessed to know him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bob’s honor to The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, or simply perform an act of kindness—help a neighbor, tell a story, hug a dog, or share a laugh. That’s what Bob would’ve done.
