Robert Bradley George was born on September 15, 1949, and passed away unexpectedly on July 17, 2025, after a brief illness. Born in San Francisco, Robert spent his early life in the Bay Area, eventually settling in Napa, where he graduated from Napa High School in 1967. He completed a shipfitter's apprenticeship at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard and later continued his education at Napa Valley College, earning his Psychiatric Technician credentials. Robert subsequently worked at Napa State Hospital, where he formed many vivid memories caring for a wide variety of patients. In 1975, Robert began a chapter of his life marked by international travel and adventure. During an era without the internet or comprehensive travel guides, he set off to explore the world. Starting in Europe, he gradually traveled eastward. By 1976, his passport held stamps from exotic places such as Afghanistan, Iran, Sri Lanka, and India, to name a few. His love of travel eventually brought him to Japan, where he would reside for 18 years. He admired the culture and beauty of the country and deeply valued the friendships and experiences he gained during that time. While living in Japan, Robert met his beloved wife of 35 years, Mayumi. He also began a career in the television and film industry, which would span over three decades. His projects allowed him to work adjacent to some of the world’s biggest names in show business and music. After returning to the United States in 1998, Robert and his family settled in Sacramento, California. He embraced the slower pace of life and dedicated much of his free time to his cherished hobby of photography. Though it was just a hobby, Robert was an exceptionally skilled photographer, with his work distributed worldwide through various photography agencies. His images have appeared in print advertisements, books, periodicals, and television commercials. Robert was a kind person who always maintained a positive outlook on life. His constant smile and forgiving nature made him a wonderful companion, father, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Mayumi George of Sacramento, California; his son, Alexander George of Roseville, California; and his daughter, Melissa Brown of Lodi, California. He is also survived by his brothers Christopher Michael George, DVM, of Ramona, California; Joe George of Napa, California; and Frank George of Modesto, California. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lila George of Napa, California, and his brother, Thomas George of Seattle, Washington. A viewing will be held on Friday, July 25, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park & Mortuary Chapel, 4300 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95819.
