Margaret Anne “Rita” Templin, 102, of Sacramento, California passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed.
Rita was born in Dallas, Texas, on December 5, 1923, to James and Maurine Whittlesey. She dedicated her life to her family and wide circle of friends. After graduating from Southern Methodist University with a degree in Spanish, she married Harold Templin in 1945. They moved to Sacramento, California, in 1950, where they joined First United Methodist Church. There they made many dear friends that lasted the rest of their lives. Rita dedicated many volunteer hours to the church through years, particularly with United Methodist Women and as the church’s financial secretary. Music was a critical part of Rita’s life. She was an accomplished pianist, and frequently accompanied the church choir and soloists. She instilled her love and appreciation for music in her children. Rita was also very involved in PTA through the years, and Chapter IP of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Rita and Harold enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe.
Rita is survived by her son, Larry Templin (Traci) of Sacramento; her daughter, Anne Indermill (Mark) of Folsom; her daughter Peggy Adams (Tom) of Sacramento; her beloved grandchildren, Sarah Clem, Rebecca Calderon, Samantha Templin, Savannah Templin, Darren Indermill, Bryce Indermill, Tyler Indermill, and her nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Harold Templin.
