Rita Ann Meyers

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Ann Meyers, aged 71, on March 27, 2023. Rita was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend who touched the lives of all those she met. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Rita was born on May 7, 1951 in Pennsylvania to parents Carol Steig and Albert Kozakovsky. She spent her early childhood in Middlesex County, PA and adolescence in Pigeon Falls and Osseo, WI. After high school Rita moved West to Southern California, where eventually her mother and siblings joined her.  Rita and her 2 daughters, Shannon and Sher, later relocated to Sacramento where they established deep roots. 

Rita was a loving and caring mother who always put her children's needs before her own. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was especially fond of her 4 grandchildren: Ashlee, Elias, Orion, and Neveah and 2 great-grandchildren Manuel and Bella, her brother in law Tom, niece Lindsey and nephew/grandson/cousin Parker. Rita was the rock of her family and was loved and relied upon by all. 

In addition to her family, Rita had many “unofficially adopted” daughters who she loved as if they were her own.  

Rita loved to visit the ocean, go on adventures, walk, hike and spend time with her friends. She was also devout in her faith and love for God. Her faith played a huge role in her life and her family is comforted with the knowledge that she was called home to be with the Lord.

Rita's passing is a great loss to her family and friends. Her kindness, generosity, and warmth will be deeply missed. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and service to others.
