Richard J. Rodas came into the world on August 12, 1953, in Tondo Manila, Philippines to the late Felix Rodas and Corazon Rodas. He was the second eldest of five children. He was preceded in death by his eldest brother Reynald and survived by (Reynald’s ex-wife Nora and children, Jennifer, Jacqueline and Jonathan); Roland (wife Cynthia and children Princess Bouquet and Evoll Russell); Russlyn (ex-husband Willy and children Willy Arjay and Precious Icess); and Rudolph (wife Cynthia and son Felix Bernard).
He attended the Lyceum of the Philippines University and received his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in 1974. Following that he graduated from the New Era Evangelical College and was ordained as a Minister in the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) by our former beloved Executive Minister Erano G. Manalo on July 26, 1979. He then obtained his Master of Education degree from the University of the Philippines (Diliman) in 1992.
Our former Executive Minister Bro. Erano G. Manalo brought together Bro. Richard and Sis. Amparo. They married on August 7, 1979, and had been married for 43 years at the time of his passing. They were blessed with three loving and caring daughters, Anna Marie Perez (husband Amelito and children Christian Samuel and Loide Marie); Anna Christine Taloma (husband Jason and children Caitlin Amber and Logan Matthew); and Sophia Fernandez (husband JC and son Jacob Kane).
Bro. Richard dedicated the last 43 years of his life to his Ministry. Through his various assignments, he was able to inspire and guide brethren in becoming closer to our Almighty Father. Bro. Richard’s desire was to perform his duty until the very end. With the strength that God blessed him with, he was able to teach at the School for Ministry on Friday, June 23 before he peacefully passed away on Monday, June 26.
