On May 24, 2024, Richard Michael Rich “Rich” rejoined his beloved wife, Patricia Jean, in heaven. Those loved ones left behind include his brother, Jim Rich; his son, Tony (Gayle) Ferrari; his grandchildren, Peggie Ann (Lee) Jaramillo, Kelly (Taylor) Nowak, Ben (Stephanie) Ferrari, Tim (Emily) Ferrari, Kristy (Steve) Morrow, eleven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Rich was preceded in death by his daughter, Janelle, his parents, Loris and Rubye and his brothers Eugene and Bob.
Rich was born in Memphis, Hall County, Texas, in 1940. He was raised in Orcutt, California, and graduated from Santa Maria High School, prior to serving four years in the United States Air Force. Following his deployment overseas, he received an Honorary Discharge from his final station of duty in Sacramento, where he then resided for 60 years with Patricia and loved ones. He was a gifted industrial mechanic with the Campbell Soup Company where he retired after serving 35 years as Lead Mechanic in can plant operation for the company. Upon his retirement, he honed his woodworking skills, making many cherished pieces for his family and crafted many items for the Sacramento area children’s hospitals, at which children are still enjoying today. His skills were recognized in woodworking magazines.
Rich never knew a stranger, and you could always expect to see that big “Richie Rich” smile when greeting him. He will be laid to rest with Patricia on June 28, 2024 at 10am at East Lawn Elk Grove Memorial Park, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove, California. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a children’s hospital of your choice in his name.
