Remedios T. Jumawan

December 18, 1936 — August 17, 2024

Elk Grove, CA

Remedios Jumawan passed away August 17, 2024 in Elk Grove, California at the age of 87. Though she lived in Siquijor in the Philippines for many years, she was an active resident of Elk Grove for the past 23 years.

In life, Remedios was committed to caring for and serving her family. Shortly after graduating college, she took care of her father, Benigno, during his prolonged heart illness while also working as a teacher. When her husband Primo was hospitalized with liver cancer, Remedios never left his side and cared for him during his long, painful illness. After moving to Santa Clara, she worked long hours in manufacturing while devoting her free time to caring for her mother, Natalia.

As a widow with five young children, Remedios never wavered in her commitment to their care. Her children were everything to her. In 1980, she gave up a comfortable life in the Philippines to move to the United States in the hope of giving her children a better life. Her devotion to family, strong work ethic, courage, and selflessness are reflected in her children.

Remedios was devoted to her seven grandchildren and greatly enjoyed spending time with them in her later years. She was active in her grandchildren's lives and loved playing with them when they were younger and hearing about their lives as they got older. They brought her so much joy and she was very proud of them. Her grandchildren will greatly miss her and hope to honor her memory through their own hard work.

Remedios endured her suffering without complaint. She was not a person with many words but always showed her family her love by her actions. She was a giver and never expected anything in return.

She was preceded in life by her husband Primo Jumawan, her son Primo Jumawan Jr., her father Benigno Tomimbang, her mother Natalia Tomimbang, and her sister Angeles Jakosalim. She is survived by her children Gary Jumawan, Brian Jumawan, Jo-Ann Fuller, and Lyle Fullmer as well as her sons- and daughters-in-law Fayeanne Jumawan, Susie Jumawan, Joseph Fuller, and Ian Fullmer. She is additionally succeeded by her sister Josefa Canlas and her seven grandchildren (Rachel, Aaron, Sarah, Sean, Natalia, Rebecca, and Gavin) as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
