Rebecca Anne Hamilton passed away in Sacramento on December 14th after a lengthy illness.

Rebecca was born on May 23, 1951 in Stockton, California to Arthur A. Zuniga and Ramona S. (Camacho) Zuniga. She attended San Joaquin Delta College and the University of the Pacific before transferring to UC Davis from which she graduated in 1973 with degrees in design and political science. It was also in Davis in 1973 that she met Doug Hamilton whom she married in 1975.

Rebecca started working at Wells Fargo Bank, a job that led to a lifelong career in finances. She left the bank in 1986 to work as a financial investment advisor with Dean Witter and in 1993 moved to Kidder Peabody, now UBS Financial Services, where she worked until 2021. To be fair, she never thought of it as work, for she loved helping her clients.

Rebecca loved her family, her garden, her kitchen, and her pets as well as reading and traveling. She especially loved the Carmel area and Yosemite National Park. From childhood camping trips at Camp 12 to Chefs’ Holidays at the Ahwahnee, Yosemite always held a special place in her heart. Befitting her degree in design she was a woman with a great sense of style and fashion.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Doug, her children, Andrew of Sacramento and Courtney of Canaan, New Hampshire, her sister, Susan Tidwell (Ed) of Elk Grove, her nephews Eric and Ryan Tidwell and their families, two aunts, two uncles and many, many cousins.

A funeral mass will be held on December 30, 2021 at 11:00 at Sacred Heart Church at 1040 39th Street (39th & and J Streets), Sacramento. There will be a visitation at the church preceding the mass at 10:00 and burial immediately following the service at East Lawn Cemetery on Folsom Boulevard. Masks are required in the church. There will not be a reception, however there will be a celebration of Rebecca’s life at a time to be arranged in 2022.
