Raymond Ross Hedrick (Papa), age 88, of North Highlands, California passed away on Sunday March 10, 2024. Funeral services will be held on Mar 28, 2024 at East Lawn Mortuary Sierra Hills Memorial Park.
Raymond was born April 6, 1935 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born to Raymond Hedrick and Josephine (Hedrick) Baker, he was the youngest of his three older brothers Willard, Ray and Dicky. Raymond joined the United States Air Force as a young man, fought in the Vietnam war and faithfully served his country for two decades. While serving, he lived in Germany, Japan and Hawaii before settling down in North Highlands, California where he ultimately retired from the military. After retiring, Raymond opened a television repair shop, H&H TV Repairs, and took great pride in providing customers with wonderful service through his expertise in electronics.
While in the Air Force, Raymond married the love of his life, Albertine Hedrick, and became stepfather to John Brown and Marilyn (Brown) Matthews. Raymond and Albertine were happily married for 52 years until her passing in 2013.
He is survived by his two stepchildren: Marilyn Brown (husband Charles) and John Brown (wife Deborah); his grandchildren: Jerry Favors (wife Myrah) Kenny Favors (wife Zulekha), Brian Favors (wife Lurie) and Michael Brown, his niece Dorris Moore, and his eight great grandchildren: Nathan, Isaiah, Avery, Cameron; Kai, Zaydin; Naasir and Nia.
Raymond enjoyed watching movies and took great pride in his vast film collection. He also liked to read, listen to jazz music and was a huge sports fan who loved the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Sacramento Kings (when they were winning). Those who knew him would describe him as a loving, intelligent, kind and dependable man who was knowledgeable about a wide range of topics and was always there to help his family and loved ones.
