Ray Clifton Jordan, Sr. was born in Alto, Texas on January 6, 1943 to Henry Clifton Jordan and Owena Baker. Ray was the first of four boys. The family relocated to Los Angeles, California where Ray attended school and grew up. Ray served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and after his discharge, he married Lucy Leora Anderson. Ray and Lucy had 7 children, 4 girls and 3 boys. Lucy and the kids relocated to Sacramento, California in the 1970’s and Ray soon followed after. Ray and Lucy eventually divorced in 1982, and Ray went on to marry Deona “Dee Dee” Malone in May of 1994.
Ray eventually went on to become a Correctional Office for The State of California, Department of Corrections. Ray served as a Correctional Office for Folsom State Prison until his retirement in 2010. Ray loved music and dabbled with a keyboard that he still owns. He also played a mean game of craps and had a sweet tooth. He often had a package of Chip Ahoy cookies that could be found on the top of his refrigerator, and a tin of Almond Roca that he gladly shared with his grandchildren. Ray also enjoyed investing in the stock market and often had stock tips to offer.
Ray is preceded in death by Henry C. Jordan (father), Owena Keihle (mother), Charles Jordan (brother), Lucy L Jordan (ex-wife), Deona Malone (wife), and Leathe Alberta Jordan (daughter). Ray is survived by his remaining six children: Rachel Brooks, Sabrina Hudson (Ivan), Ray Jordan, Jr. Ahmad Jordan, Owena Jordan, and Harold Jordan, His grandchildren: Carl Brooks, Robert Brooks, Simone Hudson, Ivan Hudson Jr., and Taileyah Jordan, His great-grandchildren: Faith Babineaux, Ezequiel Pope, Elijah Pope, Shelia Bowden, Royal Brooks, Legend Brooks, and a host of family and friends.
