Ranulfo "Toto" Mendoza

December 2, 1948 – December 2, 2024

Ranulfo "Toto" Arrabaca Mendoza Jr., 76, of Claveria, Misamis Oriental, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on December 2, 2024, his 76th birthday.

Born on December 2, 1948, in Claveria, Misamis Oriental, Toto was the beloved son of Ranulfo Velez Mendoza Sr. and Expectacion Arrabaca Mendoza. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, a respected mentor, and a cherished brother, uncle, and friend to many.

In the 1970s, Toto was deeply involved in Christian education ministry. He dedicated his summers to teaching Vacation Bible School and traveled to various barrios to preach and teach children. His passion for youth ministry was evident in his role as the director of three youth camp programs for the Northern Mindanao Advent Christian Conference. Thanks to his scholarship from Advent Christian Mission Society, Toto earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Xavier University in 1971.

After graduation, he worked with Advent Christian Assistance in Development before joining Oro Swine Growers in 1975 as a feed mill supervisor. From 1980 to 2011, Toto served as Farm Supervisor for the Ranch and Hatchery at Crew Resources, with a brief stint at Aberastori Ranch in 1995.

Toto was a committed member of Maranatha Bible Church, where he served on the church board and the Oro Bible College Board. He served as chairman of the church board for many years and as elder for the men’s ministry church planting and outreaches and the praise and worship team. His strong leadership, courage, and determination encouraged church members to continue serving the Lord. From 2008 to 2011, he served as the outreach pastor at Indahag Fellowship and Learning Center. Although his ministry in the Philippines was cut short when his daughter petitioned for him to move to the United States in 2011, he continued to serve and inspire others with his faith and love for God, supporting the ministries of Rick Warren, Billy Graham and Charles Stanley. He spent his remaining years surrounded by his family, who cherished him deeply. He loved to cook for his family and spent much of his time gardening and watching sports.

Toto is survived by his wife, Fe Mendoza; his daughter, Maree Fe Mendoza; his son-in-law Churchill Polo; his two granddaughters, Trisha Faye Polo and Tauriel Faye Polo. He was preceded in death by his only grandson, Ranulf Shaun Mendoza Polo.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at DaVita Calvine Home Training (South Sacramento), especially his nurse Clarence, head nurse Raquel, and NP Nikki—as well as the healthcare team at Methodist Hospital of Sacramento's Emergency Room for their compassionate care during his frequent visits and final moments.

A celebration of Toto’s life will be held on December 23, 2024, at 1:00 PM at East Lawn Elk Grove Memorial Park. For family and friends in the Philippines, a livestream of the service will be available on December 24, 2024, at 5:00 AM Philippine time.

Toto will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

“This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

—1 Timothy 2:3-4
