Penny Chin

Penny Chin peacefully passed away in her sleep early on the morning of July 11, 2026 with her husband at her bedside at the age of 80 years old. After entering home hospice in her final month of her life, she lost her long battle with end stage kidney disease and lung cancer.

Penny Wong was born on July 17, 1945 in the Toisan region, Guangdong Province, China. She was 1 of 9 children and the oldest daughter in the family. She was a young teenager when she immigrated to the United States with her parents, brothers, and sisters to Sacramento, CA. Shortly thereafter, she met and married her future husband of nearly 60 years, Henry, and became Penny Chin. Family life was next with Linda, Albert, and Cindy.

Throughout her life, Penny developed many hobbies. Cooking was a passion where she excelled creating sumptuous feasts at holiday gatherings for the family. She also took interests in gardening, ball room dancing, swimming, and cruise vacations with family and friends. She also enjoyed spending time and spoiling all seven of her granddaughters.

She is survived by her husband Henry; three children: Linda (Larry), Albert (Corinne), and Cindy (Ken); and seven grandchildren: Lauren, Rachel, Janelle, Kendyl, Courtney, Madison, and Kristyn
