Pamela Yu Chow

Pamela Yu Chow (74), passed away peacefully in Sacramento on September 21, 2023.  She is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Chok Yun “Dan” Chow; loving daughter Salena and son-in-law Brian Tam; devoted son Devin; and two grandchildren, Oliver Tam and Cora Chow. She was a caring sister to Melvin Yu and sister-in-law Mi Yin Kwong; and auntie to many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Pamela was born in Guangdong, China in 1949 and came to California by way of Hong Kong in 1963.  She was raised by her parents, Chiu Yu and Shui Ngan Chan Yu and was preceded by her parents and sisters, Cynthia (Jerry Wong) and Carol (Kenneth Lee). Pamela graduated from C.K. McClatchy High School in 1969 and attended Sacramento City College where she obtained an Associates Degree and learned to start her own business.  She was a hard worker her entire life; picking fruit in the orchards during high school and waitressing at restaurants to help contribute to the family.  She also managed rental properties and a family restaurant.  

She was a successful, self-employed hairdresser at the Mane Event Salon in Downtown Sacramento.  Even after retirement, she was still cutting hair and styling at home for friends and family.  She was a woman of many talents; enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, and baking.  Pamela was known for being one of the go-to experts of Chinese recipes, customs, and traditions within the local community.  

Friends and family are invited to her memorial service on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at the East Lawn Chapel and Cemetery located at 4300 Folsom Boulevard, Sacramento CA 95819.  Viewing begins at 11:30 AM with service at 12:30 PM, and interment immediately following the service.
