Oliver âOllieâ Rose, aged 82 years, of Sacramento, CA, passed away on March 11, 2022, after contracting COVID.
Oliver was born on December 3, 1939, to Robert and Fannie Rose in Sacramento, CA. He graduated from McClatchy High School, then went on to become one of the best automotive mechanics around. It was a skill that came naturally to him and was the result of having to fix the many cars he broke while drag racing.
Ollie had a love for his military truck named Doris. He frequently took his family to Folsom Lake, fishing voyages, and drive-in movies, most sitting in lawn chairs in the open back. Many weekends were spent throwing his three kids in Doris and participating in Downtown Sacramentoâs cruise night. As well as pulling tree stumps, moving cars and heavy equipment for people. Doris was a general weekend highlight.
Ollie had a kind soul, willing to help all those in need. His humor was ever-present, as well as his laughter. Telling stories, or constantly coming up with songs on the fly, Ollie spun and sang them to his captured audience.
Ollie was predeceased by his parents Robert and Fannie Rose, sister Reta Rose, and eldest daughter Sherry Van Dyke. He is survived by his siblings Ellsworth Rose (wife Margaret), Dolores Connelly (husband Jim), and Lucille Pires (husband Ronnie), children Garry Rose (wife Jessica) and Kelly Rose (husband Tom), son-in-law Gary Van Dyke, grandchildren Kylie Rose and Clara Rose, and lifelong friends Carlton Bill and Leroy Gardner, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Services will be held graveside at the Fiddletown Cemetery (20138 American Flat Road, Fiddletown California) on Tuesday, March 29th at 1:00 pm. Some light food will be provided, and some limited seating. It may make sense to grab a folding chair if you have one convenient. Parking is across the street, however, for those of limited mobility, you may pull into the cemetery drive closer to the final resting place after the Hearse arrives.
In place of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the American Stroke Foundation (www.stroke.org), Ollie hoping for beneficial research for folks suffering through this affliction, like his daughter, Kelly.
