Ock Ting Yee

With great sadness the family of Ock Ting Yee announces his passing at age 97 in Sacramento, CA.  Born in Guangdong, China in 1925, Ock came to the United States in 1946.  He lived and worked in and around Boston, MA.  He traveled back to China and married Gim Ha Wong.  Ock returned to the US, settling in Sacramento and followed later by Gim Ha and their first-born daughter, Jeannie.  
Ock and Gim then commenced their great journey of raising a family.  Throughout this time, both worked a variety of jobs, full and part-time, making sure their shifts didn’t overlap so one parent or the other would always be with the children.  Ock eventually took a full-time job at the Campbell Soup plant.  This job became his career and lasted 34 years through his retirement in 1989.  By this time all the children had reached adulthood and had either earned or were approaching college degrees.  Also, there were now sons and daughters-in law, grand kids to babysit, travel, and other activities, such as watching Kings games to enjoy; it was indeed time to retire.  As the years went on, Ock would always greet his grandchildren with a big smile, encourage them to work hard in school, and sometimes slip them a dollar bill, especially if they played the piano for him.
Ock was a life-long member and served as Treasurer of the Sacramento Yee Fong Association.  He worshipped at the Chinese Grace Bible Church, and frequently provided rides to fellow congregants during his driving years. 
Survivors are his wife, Gim Ha, their seven children, Jeannie Moore (Steven), Steven Wong, Kary Osada (Yutaka), Kristin Horowitz (Robert), Tina Wong (Craig), Kevin Yee, and Melvin Yee (Deanna); eleven grandchildren, Stephanie Moore, Curtis Wong, Ryan Osada (Carrie), Jennifer Saldana (Kenny), Jeremy Wong, Kiana Wong, Jacob Wong, Kirby Wong, Elizabeth Yee, Jenna Yee, and Megan Yee; and two great-grandchildren, Remy Osada and Tatum Saldana.
We miss him dearly.  Funeral Service on Thursday June 15, 2023 at 2pm at East Lawn Memorial Park, 4300 Folsom Blvd.  Sacramento, CA
