William Eck

William Fredrick Eck Bill Eck, 91, passed away July 31, 2008 at home after a brief illness. Bill was born in Winnipeg, Canada and has resided in Sacramento for 70 years. Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Lauretta Eck, Brother Charles Eck and sister, Elieen Baldwin. Bill is survived by his wife of 19 years, Alvina Eck, and sister, Stella MacGowan. Father of two – Joann Mounkes (husband Joe), of Folsom, CA and Ileen Erickson, of Walnut Creek, CA. Grandfather to Heather Kobza (husband Jerry), Kevin Mounkes (wife Christy), and Sam Kary, great-grandfather to Courtney Kobza and Kelsey Kobza. Bill set a good example for "seniors" with his commitment to daily exercise, healthy easting, and an active lifestyle. Post retirement activities included Sons In Retirement, Trinity Lutheran Church Elder, bowling team, poker group, winemaking, traveling, and gardening. His true passions were dancing and playing the violin. At 80, he joined a musical combo group that performed at local nursing homes. Known for his good and sometimes corny sense of humor, Bill enjoyed a good story and joke. The family wishes to thank the Kaiser Hospice team for their compassionate and supportive care, his night time care-giver David, and members of Trinity Lutheran Church for their prayers and support. William, Bill, husband, Daddy, Poppa, brother, uncle, and friend-you will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held at Andrews & Greilich 3939 Fruitridge Rd. from 12:00-8:00 pm Wednesday 08/06/08.
