Robert Charles Link

April 8, 1925 — October 26, 2008

LINK, Robert C. Born in Sacramento, CA on April 8, 1925 to Otto and Maude Link. Passed away October 26, 2008. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Faye and children, Bobbi Swetland (John), Charles Link (Laura); grandsons, Ron and Robert Link; brother, Kent Link; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Maude Link; sister, Barbara Truax; and brother, Don Link. He served in WWII in the Army and was a highly decorated soldier. Upon returning from the war, he met his wife and settled in Sacramento to raise a family. He was a police officer for the City of Sacramento and retired as a lieutenant in 1978 after 30 years of service. He remained in the Army reserves where he retired in 1985. He was a member of the Union Kit Carson Lodge, Ben Ali Shrine, The Scottish Rite and the California Peace Officers Assn. He adored his family and especially loved going to his grandsons' baseball games where he would enthusiastically cheer them on. He had many friends and they met regularly for breakfast, lunch or any occasion - he loved to socialize. He enjoyed hunting, golf, antiques and spending time with his family and friends at the family cabin near Lake Tahoe. He will be truly missed and will always be in our hearts. He has gone home to be with our Lord in Heaven. The family would like to express our appreciation to the staff of the Kaiser South ICU unit for their excellent care and support. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, November 1 at 10:30am at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1820 28th Street, Sacramento.
