November 25, 1918 — June 25, 2004

MARES, GEORGE November 25, 1918 – June 25, 2004. Our family is blessed with a wonderful person. George Mares was a dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Mr. Mares was an honored WWII Army Veteran, a former Prisoner of War and a survivor of the “Bataan Death March” posted at the memorial in Taos, New Mexico. His mass will be held at St. Lawrence Church, North Highlands, CA on Thursday, July 1, 2004 at 10:00 AM with an Army Honor Guard ceremony. Mr. Mares was a native of Taos, New Mexico. George’s faith in God brought the Lord’s grace and strength to his family and friends. All who knew him will greatly miss him. We will miss his love and sweet nature. In his day he was a handsome, dapper man with a great sense of humor. Please renew your faith and belief in miracles when you say a prayer for Mr. Mares. His patron saint is the Sainto Nino de Atocha, Chimayo, New Mexico. “We love you dad.” Your wife Viola, Elaine and Tim, Diana and Alan, and Jana and Zara. Funeral Home: East Lawn Mortuary 5757 Greenback Lane Sacramento, CA US 95841
