Gail Alston, was born on March 25, 1947 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the oldest of 9 children, born to Lloyd and Laverne Green. She attended Landry High School up until her senior year when the family moved to Oakland, California. After graduation she married and gave birth to two daughters, Deirdre Moore and Regina Whitaker. She was employed by Pacific Gas and Electric Company for over 30 years. Gail was mother to everyone she encountered. Over the span of her life she raised her brothers, sisters, and any child that needed a place in the world to feel at home.
Gail Alston was devoted to her family and children. She was known to make every person feel special and unique as if they were her favority person and only consideration. Her grandchildren, Deante Gray, Christopher Moore, and Layla Lanier Whitaker were her prides of joy. Eventhough, she only gave birth to two daughters, she also raised, Reginald Tutson, Albert Brown, Allen Brown, Ariel Brown, Alicia Jones, Sylvester Tatum, Mignon Green and several other foster children. She had a unique way of seeing the needs of each individual and catering her care and love for that individual. She shared special moments with all of us. She was a hugh advocate for each child regardless of their bad deeds. She only saw the good in all her children. She never allowed any of us to face the world alone or fight any battles alone.
Gail Alston enjoyed all things that would bring the best out in her kids. She believed in exposing the children to life activities and anything that would accentuate their God given gifts. Her philosophy was to lift up the good parts of the child and redirect or turn the not so good parts into that childs victory. She loved piling all the kids in the car and taking them to activites or across the country to see the ocean.
Over her life she enjoyed bowling, sports fanatic, knitting, reading, Eastern Star Organization, and family activites. While employed she was a Union Shop Steward and fought many battles for her co-workers. One of her favorite places was Walmart and Winco.
Gail Alston is servied by her mother Laverne Green, her two children, Deirdre Moore, Regina Whitaker, grandchildren, Deante Gray, Christopher Moore, Layla Whitaker, brothers Lloyd Green, Wayne Green, Kirk Green, Kevin Green, sisters, Trudy Crawford Green, Michelle Johnson, Tracy Green and a hosts of nieces, nephews and other relatives. She is preceeded in death by her father Lloyd Green, and brother Reginald Green.
