Barnes, Charlotte, Ed.D., in Elk Grove September 16, 2004. Beloved wife and happily married to Walter Barnes, Sr. for 62 years. Dear Father to Walter Barnes, Jr. and his wife Linda and Mark Barnes, Ph.D., and his wife Karen. Sister to Dorothy May. Devoted grandmother to Matthew, Daniel, Kelly, Susannah, Michael and Roberto. She is also survived by a host of friends and her special care giver Shahnaz Parker. After raising her sons, Charlotte returned to college and earned her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Sacramento State and her Doctorate at the University of the Pacific. She was a teacher in the Elk Grove Unified School District and a Principal at James McKee and Samuel Kennedy Elementary Schools. Charlotte was a kind and loving mother. She wrote community interest stories for the "Neighbor" Section of the Sacramento Bee and The Elk Grove Citizen Newspapers. She wrote and published a book, "I'll Always Remember Montana" about her childhood experiences in that state. A member of the Elk Grove Book Club, a native of Sacramento, aged 81. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service, Monday, September 20, 2004, 11 am at South East Lawn Mortuary, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove, CA. Interment to follow, South East Lawn Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to The Alzheimer"s Aid Society of Northern California, PO Box 1824, Sacramento, CA., 95812.
