Norma Mae Sutherland (nee Lamb) passed away on May 1, 2024, in Elk Grove, California, at the age of 95. She was born on June 21, 1928, in Claresholm, Alberta, Canada. Norma was a loving and playful woman with a great sense of humor, known for her ability to connect with others.
Norma had a fulfilling career as a nurse and graduated with a BS in Nursing from Northwestern Nazarene University in 1952. In her free time, she thrived on spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, RVing, and spending time with her dogs.
Norma is survived by her husband of 69 years, Robert Sutherland, an amazing and attentive caregiver to her for many years; children Dennis Sutherland, Brian Sutherland (and spouse Pamela), and Beth Hieb (and spouse Steven), as well as 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Norma is also survived by her Canadian sisters and brother: Delrose Cornet-Warner, Maxine Cross, Stanley Lamb and Sharon Currence. She was preceded in death by her son Kendrick Sutherland (surviving spouse Elizabeth) and her brother Gordon Lamb.
A service to celebrate Norma's life will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church, 625 Florin Road, Sacramento, California, on Sunday, May 12 at 2 PM, followed by a short burial service on Monday, May 13 at 11:00 AM at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Rd, Dixon, CA.
