Neva Louise Kolb, known to everyone as “Louise” was born November 23, 1934 in Belvedere Gardens, Los Angeles and raised in Calimesa, California. Her grandmother brought her to the Salvation Army as a toddler where she became a junior soldier. Her Soldiership continued to the Redlands Corps in California and the Sacramento Corps where, with the support of her husband, she had been involved with the following aspects of the Corps; Corps Cadets, Senior Soldier, Young People’s Secretary, Home League, League of Mercy, Sunday School Teacher, Junior Legion, Junior Church, Corps Cadet Guardian, and Songster.

Louise had a vital ministry in her community as a Christian, where she was involved with Girl Scouts as a Leader, and Leader over all the Leaders in Citrus Heights, teen counselor, high school adult Grad Nite Chairperson 3 times, Explorer Scout co-leader with her husband, and active member of her children’s Parent Teacher Association. She was recognized in 1972 for activities as a Youth Leader by the Arlington Heights PTA.

In 2008, on behalf of the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, Louise was awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award. Awarded for her dedication to volunteer service, demonstrating values that make our nation strong and helping to build a culture of citizenship, service and responsibility in America.

Louise Kolb was married for 44 years, until the death of her husband, Douglas Kolb. One of her favorite activities was dancing. In 1957, she and her husband won 3rd Place in the Arthur Murray Match Competition. She also enjoyed bowling and was in a senior league.
