Born on September 2, 1926 â to Tomitaro Hiraga (father) and Oteru Fujimoto (mother) in Sacramento, California. Older brothers Taeko (Tom), Masao and Noboru. Older sisters Chiyako, Kikuye (Grace), Shizuko (Billie) and Tamayo (Rosie).
Nancy lived in Florin and went to Fruitridge Grammer School. In her freshmen year 1941, she attended Elk Grove High School. And finished at Crowley High School in Colorado. She graduated in 1945.
In 1942, her family was sent to Fresno Assembly Center for four months. From there the family transferred to Crowley, Colorado on work furlough. The family purchased land in Crowley and farmed it until 1946. Family returned to their farm in Florin. Their address was Route 4, 3127 Hedge Ave.
After returning to Florin, Nancy was hired for State of California in Department of Employment. In 1948 Nancy met Tom Kitagawa by way of her brother Noboru. Tom and Noburo were close friends in high school. Tom and Nancy were married on August 13, 1949. First date was at the movies.
In 1952, Tom and Nancy purchased their home on 5461 Del Norte Blvd.
In 1951 Tom and Nancy has their first child (Ronald) and later had a second child (William).
She has two grandchildren. Erick and Rachel.
