Michelle DeVita Fong

February 6, 1960 — May 22, 2023

Michelle "Michey" DeVita Fong, 63, passed away on May 22, 2023 in Sacramento, CA.
Michelle is survived by her husband Arthur "Art" Fong Jr. and son Arthur "Artie" Muir Fong III.
Beloved sister of Maria, Anthony "Tony", and Jean. Caring niece, cousin, and in-law to her
extended family. Precious Auntie Shell to many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Michelle was born in Westchester, IL on February 6, 1960 to Frank DeVita and Blanche Gilbert.
In 1979, she bought a one-way Greyhound ticket to California. As the bus came down from the
Sierra foothills, she saw the Sacramento valley and knew she found her home. There, she met
her future hunky hubby and married him on October 20, 1990. Three years later, she gave birth
to her beautiful and bright sun.

For more than 30 years, Michelle successfully grew her career working for the State of
California. She spent the majority of her years at CalPERS while getting into fun shenanigans
with her wonderful colleagues and now friends before retiring in 2016.

Michelle was the light of life (Lucia DeVita) and mother to many - including the daughters of her
heart Nhi Vo and Shaomay Vong. She enjoyed relaxing summers in the sun "doing yard work"
with the family by the pool. She is a cat lover who nurtured many cats over the years. She
celebrated movement and spirituality at 5Rhythms Dance for many years. She channeled her
creativity into mixed media art including stitchwork, journaling, painting, sketching, and collage
using all the scraps she came across in her journey through life. She found joy and peace in her
art studio where the magic was strongest as she created pieces of art reflecting her soul and
true self. Open one of her many journals to discover the feelings and moments she captured in
the variety of materials and colors melded together on the pages. A poet, you can find her
thoughts and emotions scribbled into artistic stanzas and creative flow on the tapestry of her life.

Michelle welcomed each morning with breakfast and a cup of coffee - oat milk flat white being
her favorite. She would not tell you what you wanted to hear but what you needed to hear. She
brought solace to those around her who sought it. Just as she received from her own mother,
she opened herself and shared her love and light freely to those who accepted it. A vibrant
sparkle, Michelina's warmth and energy will be with us forever.
