Michael's journey of life was marked by significant achievements and unwavering commitment. He graduated from Grant High School in Sacramento and went on to serve his nation with honor in the United States Marine Corps, dedicating more than 20 years of his life from May 1974 through October 1994.

After his military service, Michael found his second calling with the Sacramento City Unified School District, where he worked tirelessly as a mechanic for more than 18 years. His dedication and work ethic were second to none.

He was the loving son of Dorothy Chaney Pickett, held a special place in his heart as grandson to Rhoda Chaney, and the devoted husband of Lolita S. Chaney, whom he married on April 24, 1976, after their fateful meeting while he was stationed in the Philippines.

Michael was a cherished father to Larry Sinoc (Maricel Sinoc), Brandley Sinoc (Chrissy Sinoc), Michael Chaney, Jr. (Maranda Chaney), and Maurice Chaney (Lesly Chaney). He was also supported by his mother-in-law, Florencia Sinoc of the Philippines.

Michael's passions were boundless, including his deep love for quality music, an unwavering enthusiasm for automobiles, a fondness for firearms, and an impeccable sense of fashion.

In addition to his unique tastes, he had a particular fondness for apple pie, bacon, and "sock it to me" cake, often savoring these treats at 3 a.m. His joyful spirit and appreciation for life's pleasures were truly remarkable.
